Since the rains have finally subsided for a few days, the trails are dry and back in good shape.

We cleared out a number of downed trees, and finally got a start on trimming back the growth covering the trail last week.  Hopefully we will be done with trimming for awhile after trailwork this week.

There may be a some areas that still need some maintenance:  If you know of anywhere that needs work PLEASE post it on the message board under "Heads Up!". (We can't fix it if we don't know it's broke.)

Too Much Rain! (June 6, 2008) PDF Print E-mail

With all the rain we have been getting (which is expected to continue), the trails are pretty soft right now.  Please use your best judgment when deciding when to ride, or what trails to ride. The Green Prairie Loop trails are usually the driest, the Blue trails usually take about a day to dry and the Black trails stay wet the longest (usually 2 days) since they are further down in the valleys, see the most moisture and are less exposed to the sun and wind.

All the trails will usually dry up within a day or two, so please wait long enough to allow them to firm up following a heavy rain.

Roger went out to the trails this afternoon to scout out the conditions.  Thanks Roger and everybody else that helped out clearing the trails so they would dry out sooner.

So, after careful consideration, (and mother nature finally cooperating)...

The HPT trails are OPEN!

Go out and ride, run, or whatever safely.  Just remember that the trail is still soft and can suffer from abuse so remember to tread lightly.

April 22, 2008: Trails should hopefully be opening in the very near future!
Watch the website and your email.

April 14th, 2008: Trails are still closed.
March 29, 2008:
SORRY, the Trails are currently CLOSED!

That means NO HIKING, NO BIKING, NO HORSES, NO TIP-TOEING ETC
This is a seasonal closure due to wet weather.

Q:
When will the trails re-open?
A: That will be decided by Mother Nature. The trails will be open as soon as they are dry enough to sustain foot and bike traffic without doing damage to the trail. Please respect the hard work of the volunteers by staying off the trail.

We all want to use the trails as soon as we can, but please pay attention to the signs and check back here for official trail opening information. Mother Nature will thank you!

The Quarry Trail inadvertently ran off MVC land and onto one of the neighboring land owners land. Currently there are signs up and ribbons in the trees marking this area. If you are on the trail please do not cross over onto the private property. We will have a correction to the trail (shown on map - "READ MORE") this spring when the weather permits. Your help in this is greatly appreciated.
