The HPT trails are officially open for 2009! So get out and enjoy the outdoors! Heads up... The top of the Darkside Trail and Quarry Trail each have a tree down. They should be clear soon.
Big thanks to the volunteers that got out early and blew the leaves off the trails.
Also if anyone has any information regarding the theft of the "Temporarily Closed" banner, please contact an HPT Board member.

SORRY, the Trails are currently CLOSED!
That means NO HIKING, NO BIKING, NO HORSES, NO TIP-TOEING ETC This is a seasonal closure due to wet weather.
Q: When will the trails re-open? A: That will be decided by Mother Nature. The trails will be open as soon as they are dry enough to sustain foot and bike traffic without doing damage to the trail. Please respect the hard work of the volunteers by staying off the trail.
We all want to use the trails as soon as we can, but please pay attention to the signs and check back here for official trail opening information. Mother Nature will thank you! |

Snow & Ice covered in spots. Probably not a good idea to take a bike or ski's out. Snowshoes or hiking may be ok.
Personally I'd rather sit by a warm fire with some hot chocolate!
Spring should be here soon, and then I can break out my hiking boots and speedo! |

In our effort to bring the best riding in the area; we blew the leaves off the trails, so as of 11-1-08 the trails are relatively leaf free, so go and enjoy! |

Thu 7/10 - UPDATE:
The downed trees have been cleared from the trail throughout the entire system. We still need to check the TNT trail, but that probably won't happen until next week. The trails are slick and slippery from the recent rains, but they should be fine once the ground drys up. Click HERE for more details. - And Have Fun!!!

Wed 7/9 - UPDATE: All of the singletrack trails on the North Side are clear (i.e. IMBERM, Stinkys, Skeeter, Fr. Connect, Bob, Quarry Trail) Still Hill is NOT clear. The Trails on the South Side still need some work and we will be working on that tonight. We expect to have the entire trail system open after Thursday Night. (Check back here for more information). The volunteers that came out last night did an extraordinary amount of work, and most of them will be out there again tonight. THANK-YOU! to everyone that came out! Remember...
If you used the trails today, Thank a Volunteer. If you want to use them tomorrow, Become a Volunteer. ____________________________________________________________________
The storm that hit La Crosse yesterday wreaked havoc on the trees at HPT. There have been reports that up to 100 trees are down throughout the HPT trail system. The trails are not fun nor safe to use right now. So for now... the trails are CLOSED.
We will try and get out Wednesday and Thursday nights to clear as many trees as we can from the trail. Check back here for updates. WE NEED YOUR HELP: HPT has 3 individuals that have completed the chainsaw safety class; therefore they will be the only ones running saws. However we need a few individuals to help with clearing (2 helpers per saw). If anyone can come up to help out Wednesday late afternoon/evening please post a note in the comments here. |
