Due to our new direction and involvement with all things Silent Sports Related. Trail work will continue on Thursday Nights - The change being that we will now be working to maintain the lower Hixon trails as well. So the schedule for the rest of 2012 is as follows:

Meet in HPT Parking lot for HPT work on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays

Meet in Lower Hixon (Lot off of Milson Ct) for Lower Hixon Work on the 2nd & 4th Thursdays...

If by chance there is a 5th Thursday (August 30th) there will be no trail work...

Summary:
1st & 3rd Thursdays = HPT Parking lot for Trail Work
2nd & 4th Thursdays = Lower Hixon lot for Trail Work

Tonight (6/28) = 4th Thurs = Lower Hixon Lot!

What work is being in lower hixon?

I don't have the entire list of everything - but basically general maintenance of the trails much like we've done at HPT over the years. Weed Whacking, Leaf Management, DeBerming, maybe some minor rerouting of problem area's.

Plus there will be some widening of certain trails that are used for XC skiing in the winter to accomodate the new wider groomer they will now be using.

Since HPT morphed into the Silent Sports Group, and now most resently the Outdoor Recreation Alliance (of the 7 River Region) - Natures Place to Play, there is a broader base of activies to be done now.

With the heat index pushing well past 100 Degrees we will not be doing trail work tonight (7/5/12). Next week (7/12) we'll be meeting in Lower Hixon once again!

More work was done last night which included rehabing the log on OB1, some deberming on Deadwood, whacking on Stinkys, tree top removal on Stinkys, and some newly planned rerouting / flaging for a new section near the Still Hill area - which looks to be a fast flowy section when complete.

Reminder this weeks work will be in Lower Hixon. Slated work to be done is on a reroute / clearing for the XC Skiers and trail users (hikers / runners). Meet in the Lot at the end of Milson Court at 5:45 PM Thurs Night. Please bring water, wear long pants and work boots for safety.

We be workin at HPT Tonight. Some tasks include, more whackin of weeds, some deberming, along with some reshaping and rock armoring as needed all depending on how many people arrive. Remember to wear long pants, closed toe shoes or boots, bring bug spray and H20 if you'd like. Ideal conditions for working as the temps have dropped and a little mosture should be present for good shaping. This is a good way to help make the trails more enjoyable for yourself and others

When 5:30 at the HPT lot (next to Weather Station). Work starts at 6:00 until dusk - which is sooner than some may want to think.
