UPDATED: July 13, 2011 @ 11:00am It’s time for HPT to hit the road again. Join us on Saturday July 16 as we make a road trip to Blue Mound State Park for a day of biking and hiking. The park has over 6-miles of challenging single track bike trails that will put the best cyclists’ handling skills to the test. Blue Mound also has several miles of hiking trails ranging from easy to difficult. If you just want to spend the day on a leisurely bike cruise or hike there is access to the 40-mile Military Ridge State Trail. For those who want to make a weekend out of the trip there is some great onsite camping. The campground includes wooded sites, showers, and a pool. Campsites can be reserved online on the WI DNR website. All vehicles entering the park will need a daily sticker pass. A daily pass is $7.00. Hikers can hike for free, but bikers need a daily state trail pass that costs $4.00. Whether you camp Friday night or come down Saturday morning we will be meeting up near the observation towers at 12:00 (noon) on Saturday. From there we’ll split up into groups and enjoy an afternoon on the trails. HPT will provide lunch and beverages after everyone works up a sweat and appetite. Information about camping, trails, and fees can be found at: http://dnr.wi.gov/org/land/parks/specific/bluemound/ CLICK HERE for a Map of the Park (including where HPT will meet).
