We had another successful trail work night, completing the weed whacking on the QT and continuing the construction of the new trail with the Ditch Witch. We also removed the tree on the Darkside trail and started the removal of the protruding roots along OB1, Darkside and Twister. This will help us prevent excessive erosion in the future and will smooth out the trail for more speed and flow! (don't fret, all the technical features remain)

No one got lost (Gene had us worried) and no Bear attacks. Thanks to all the volunteers who braved the skeeters and helped us maintain the best built trails in Wisconsin.

After riding a lap at Levis I don't believe we have any roots on the trail. Wow!
Of course riding a few laps at Lebanon Hills it is the total opposite.

So one of the questions that I've thought about in removing roots because it could possibly increase erosion issues is where this applies. For instance, if it is on a slope I can understand it generating a problem for several reasons. But let's say on a flat section of trail or a slight side slope. Is there a true need to be totally root free even on these sections?
