... Greetings: I am a daily 6 am jogger (with my dog) and appreciate the HPT as one of my favorite running options. This past weekend, I saw a hunter off one of the trails and realized that I did not know the rules for hunting in this area. I confess that I have not read all the info at the entrance but wondered if there needed to be clear signs posted at various entrance areas. And, is hunting allowed in the HPT? Thanks for all your work! Jodie |

... Hunting is allowed on most of the land up there. It's all city land in one way or another. If you were off on the new section of trail on the far north east corner, you might have been on private land for which we/MVC have an easement to build/use. Learn to coexist with the hunters, maybe run in orange clothing . They expect other users to be out there. From what I've seen of the deer on HPT land... a runner/biker isn't going to spook them too much, anyway. |
