Human Powered Trails is sponsoring a hands-on in the field chainsaw training session on Saturday, April 30

altThe Forest Industry Safety & Training Alliance (F.I.S.T.A.) will be conducting the training.  The training will deal with situations that we see in trail building, but the class will benefit anyone who uses a chainsaw.  The F.I.S.T.A. instructors are extremely skilled, knowledgeable, and have a great deal of experience.  Topics of the training include using environmentally sound practices, personal protective equipment, tools and tool maintenance, tree felling, limbing, and bucking.

HPT requires that all volunteers that operate a chainsaw at HPT functions must complete this training.

altParticipants do not need any power equipment, but you may bring your own chainsaw, chaps, helmet, and ear & eye protection.  HPT equipment will be available for everyone to share.  All participants must wear long pants, long sleeves, boots, gloves, and protective eye wear.

  • The training is FREE for HPT members; however registration is still required.
  • The cost for non-members is $50.  The training is limited to the first 15 registrations with priority given to HPT members.
  • Watch the HPT website for the time and location of the training.
