altThanks to everybody that helped out clearing the trails so they would dry out sooner.
So, after careful consideration, (and mother nature finally cooperating)...

The HPT trails are OPEN!

Go out and hike, ride, run, or whatever safely.  Just remember that the trail is still soft and can suffer from abuse so remember to tread lightly.

Oatmeal Cookie Granola PDF Print E-mail

As the cold weather sets in I find it difficult to enjoy a half frozen goo pack or a rock hard power bar while out on the trails.  This granola mixture tastes just like oatmeal cookies and will bring a cup of yogut to life!  Try this recipe for a healthy snack when you're out hiking, hitting the ski trails, or doing a ride.  Put the mixture in a ziplock, throw it in your pack, and enjoy.

altOatmeal Cookie Granola
4 cups oats
4 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 cup flax seed
1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
1/3 cup honey
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cinnamon
4 tbsp butter

1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Combine oats, brown sugar, flax, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon in a large bowl.
2. Melt the butter add honey to a small sauce pan.
3. Once this simmers remove it from the heat and rapidly stir in the extract.
4. Mix this well and pour it over the dry mixture.  Mix thoroughly to get an even coat.
5. Place this on a greased cookie sheet and bake for 20-minutes or so.
6. When finished let it cool and put it in a ziplock.

altThe HPT built trails are now open.  This is the earliest the trails have ever opened.  A big thanks goes out to our volunteers who cleared the trails with the leaf blower last fall and early this spring.  This undoubtedly helped to dry out the trails so everyone can get out and enjoy the great outdoors!

We are in the process of making small improvements (as needed) on different specific areas of the trail each week, as well as constructing new trail. If you know of anything that needs attention, please post it on the Message Board, and our volunteers will get to it as soon as possible.

We will be starting trail-work in the very near future!  Be sure to check back for information regarding when and where we will meet so you to can become part of building YOUR Trails!

Trails are CLOSED! PDF Print E-mail

altSORRY, the Trails are currently CLOSED!

That means NO HIKING, NO BIKING, NO HORSES, NO TIP-TOEING ETC
This is a seasonal closure due to wet weather.

Q: When will the trails re-open?
A: That will be decided by Mother Nature. The trails will be open as soon as they are dry enough to sustain foot and bike traffic without doing damage to the trail. Please respect the hard work of the volunteers by staying off the trail.

We all want to use the trails as soon as we can, but please pay attention to the signs and check back here for official trail opening information. Mother Nature will thank you!
