Thanks for the great response to CORE Patrol training. When I settled on a date for the CPR and First-Aid training I knew that chainsaw training was scheduled for the same day. I felt that the overlap between the people wanting both training would be small. Of course that was before our temporary trail obstacles.

To be sure that we provide the maximum training opportunities for all HPT members CPR/FA training will be rescheduled for a later date. I am working with our training partners to find dates and times compatible for all. Check the site very soon for further details. Above all keep the enthusiasm...

A tentative schedule has been put together to train those who have an interest in participating in the CORE Patrol. I will post the dates and times of CPR/First-aid and field bike repair within a few days. As soon as possible send an email to patrol at humanpoweredtrails.com expressing your interest and you will be placed on the group email list for future contact.

For those of you whom I've already heard from keep an eye on your email for details. Ideally I would like to meet as a group before the training sessions to get more organized and see what kind of ideas or suggestions you may have to shape your patrol. Let’s make this patrol a success.

Thanks to a friend of Dustin Moburg (she will remain anonymous until we see her on the trails) we now have a logo. So I guess that make us official. We are putting together plans to get jerseys and shirts for those who are interested.

As spring approaches and all of our thought turns to getting back out on the trails it’s time to re-energize the plans for CORE. The plan remains the same. That is to develop a team of volunteers who want to serve our community, support HPT all the while enjoying our trail system. We plan to continue with the two tier system of Patrollers and Ambassadors.

It’s time for Action! PDF Print E-mail

To those awaiting information and action regarding the Coulee Region Patrol (CORE) the time has arrived! After much consternation and communication with IMBA and NMBP we have formulated a plan to establish our own patrol. We are blessed by having a resource in our area that will attract users of all ages, abilities, and from the tri-state region that we can and should assist. What is CORE?

Mission:
To assist, educate, and provide information to all users of Human Powered Trails.

Mission statement:
Promote a positive recreational experience within the Coulee Region and Human Powered Trails by informing and educating recreationists, offer assistance to all trail users and promote community good will to visitors.

As can be seen by our mission statement our goal will be to support and assist ALL users of HPT. CORE is modeled from the standards of the National Mountain Bike Patrol but one need not be a mountain biker to be a member.  The CORE Patrol (like the Human Powered Trails) is open to all human powered trail users: Hikers - Bikers - Runners - Skiers - Snow shoers - etc... Everyone is welcome!

To encourage participation of all we have developed a two tier system where each group will have a different skill set but share a common goal. These groups will be identified as Patrollers and Ambassadors. Skills to be developed include First Aid and CPR, communication skills, trail etiquette and environmental issues, mountain bike skills, and field bike repairs.

CORE is in it’s infancy but in need of your support. On behalf of HPT and as Patrol Director I want to encourage active participation by all who enjoy the use of HPT. I can not think of a better way to support HPT and our community while enjoying the trail system. A general meeting will be held in the very near future to further discuss COREs structure and training. The date, time and location will be posted on this web page. If you or know of others who have a desire to help others and support HPT please plan to attend this meeting as its success depends your participation!
