Mike, Aaron and I will not be at trailwork this Thursday.  We'll be HERE.
So... Matt D, Bob & Matt K will be leading the effort.  Thanks guys for stepping up!!!

There are 3 tasks for this week...
  1. Finish trimming weeds in the areas we didn't get to last week.
  2. Clean up, armor and reshape the Berm on the Quarry Trail.
(Aaron and I finished the initial work with the Ditch Witch on Monday night.  There is plenty of material there to work with.  It just needs some final tweaking to make it "more funner"!)
  3. Clear corridor on the 2008 Trail.
Meet at the Quarry Turnaround at the end of Hwy FA - Work starts at 5:30pm.

NOTE: There may be a some areas that still need some maintenance after the rain the last few weeks:  If you know of anywhere that needs work PLEASE post it on the message board under "Heads Up!". (We can't fix it if we don't know it's broke.)

We had a small and effective group of volunteers on Thursday. Completed all the weed trimming (making hay really) on the original trail system. A few small areas on the Quarry Trail left to mow. Bob and some volunteers finished the re-build at the bottom of the French Connection. There are 2 good lines to follow through the rocks.
Thanks to all the volunteers, without your help the trail system would vanish in a sea of grass!

Nice work on the weed whacking guys. I think before the next trail trimming you all look into renting one of these for the evening. http://www.drpower.com/twoStep...IgodAg8T2Q
We used it in Ferryville to cut trails and it worked pretty well. I think one person would be able to do a lot more with less work.

Friday I heard a number of people say that the trail looks great. The even said the bottom of French Connection was the best they have seen it. I still would like to put some of the gravel wash in the rocks to help stabilize it a bit more. But overall it is pretty good. One tree down and the woodchip trail needs to be gone forever or totally redesigned.
