Looking for 29er wheelset 1 Year, 7 Months ago Karma: 1
So I'm looking for some new wheels for my ss rig, was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations/opinions of solid, lightweight 29er wheelset that won't break the bank either. I guess I'd like to keep my budget under $900, and would like to find something fairly light (under 1800g) but can still take a solid rogering on the trails. I've heard good things about the Mavic CrossMax, but see there's Shimano XTR wheelset on huncknroll.com for $599. Anyone have any thoughts on either wheelsets or wanna share what they like? Thanks ya'll!

New for 2011 . . . the best non carbon 29er wheelset to date for the price is a custom Velocity wheelset. These wheelsets come in any color you want from the rims to the hubs. They roll out at 1400 grams together for $700 bucks. Bikes Limited in La Crosse has a demo set in store to look at or try. Talk with Ben Leach (owner) and he'll help you out.

For once I have to say I agree with Mr Stumpy...LOL! The wheelset he listed would be a good one. Another great choice would be Stan's ZTR Crest. They work really well set up Tubeless.

Are you looking for a singlespeed wheelset or a geared set? That will make a defference on my thoughts.
